Who are we?

We are part of the BNP Paribas Group, one of the strongest banks in the world, rated AA by Standard & Poor, the largest bank in the Eurozone by deposits and the 11th largest company in the world (Global 2000 Forbes 2011). With over 19,000 employees in 53 countries, BNP Paribas Corporate & Investment Banking can offer you an exciting and truly global start to your career.

Career Opportunities

We have roles at both graduate and internship level across all our business areas and throughout our global network of offices:

Spring Insight programme

We offer an Insight programme for first-year university students on a three-year course, or second-year students on a four-year course. The programme offers you an introduction and valuable insight into the world of corporate and investment banking at BNP Paribas. Our Insight programme combines practical workshops and business presentations with social events and networking opportunities, designed to help you meet our people and learn about where you might best fit into our organisation. You’ll also be introduced to our Summer Internship programme, for which Insight candidates are fast-tracked and encouraged to apply.

Summer Internships

We recruit penultimate year students onto our 10 week summer internship Programme. Our scheme will give you greater insight into BNP Paribas CIB and help inform your final-year career choices. The programme features a combination of training, workshops, speaker series, and networking and social events. As an intern, you will be well supported both by the people around you and by your manager. Together we will work with you to maximise your exposure to our business and help you to get the most out of your summer with us. We see our internship programmes as a high potential pipeline for our full-time graduate programmes.

Long term internships

We recruit 500+ long-term interns in Europe on a rolling basis with contracts ranging from 4 – 11 months. A long-term internship will provide you with a detailed understanding of the corporate and investment banking sector and give you the opportunity to experience a full-time role in any one of our business areas. From the outset you will be contributing to the output of your team, taking responsibility, working with sector-leading professionals on key projects and adding to your portfolio of skills and experience. Long-term internships provide an exceptional platform from which to launch a career and are an established entry route to our graduate programmes. To be eligible for a long-term internship you must still be in full-time higher education or have graduated within one year.

Graduate programme

We recruit graduates into all areas of our business onto our one year, structured development programme in each of our core regions. (See more information below).

Training and Development

As well as first-class training and joining a global network you’ll receive on-the-job coaching and support from your manager and colleagues. With their encouragement, you’ll learn quickly and rapidly take on new responsibilities while benefiting from a culture that rewards performance but takes a realistic approach to work/life balance.

Your graduate development programme will begin with up to six weeks’ induction training, depending on whether you join the Capital Markets & Derivatives, Financing Solutions & Advisory or Functions programme.

Your training will be delivered in small groups by leading external training professionals and will include personal development and team-building activities as well as financial and technical training. Depending on your role it may also include regulatory exams.

Throughout your training you will hear from key leaders from across our business, broadening your knowledge of our activities and helping you to understand how different parts of our business interact.

Alongside our structured development programme you will be performing a real role and receiving on-the-job coaching and support from your colleagues and peers.

We are committed to early and rapid career development and you will be given as much responsibility as we feel you can handle and the opportunity to develop as fast as your ambitions allow.

Personal Development & Networking Opportunities - Your training doesn’t finish at your induction. Throughout your programme you will attend personal development workshops that will help you to understand more about yourself, your strengths and our way of working.

You will also attend social and networking events with senior managers and colleagues from across our business areas. These will help you build the personal connections that underpin successful careers in finance.

Ongoing development - As your career progresses you will continue to learn from the expertise of our sector-leading professionals by attending seminars, such as the CIB Academy, innovation workshops and the Fixed Income University. These are designed to update your technical knowledge, keep you up to date with market developments, and share ideas and insights across all our businesses.

Development Centre - We view learning as an ongoing process and one that will continue well beyond your graduate programme.

Our fully interactive Development Centre at the end of your programme will provide you with detailed feedback on your strengths and areas of development via a personal development plan which will support your career moving forwards. It will help you to place the right emphasis on key skills and behaviours as your career with BNP Paribas progresses.

What we look for

You’ll need to have, or be on track to receive, a 2:1 degree in any subject – though we view Mathematics, Economics, Sciences, Business, Finance, Engineering and Computer Science as the most relevant. We also accept Masters degrees.

You will need to be able to demonstrate good business English, other languages may also be an advantage.

Beyond this we are looking for you to demonstrate a real interest in finance and banking, intelligence, creativity and client focus – an understanding of the way our clients’ needs and objectives drive everything we do.
