Company Profile - Stoats

Overview

Stoats began with an idea in 2004 to serve fresh porridge at music festivals.  We listened to our mates moan and groan about what they had to eat to survive at music festivals.  We knew that porridge  would make a healthy, filling and tasty eating option, so we decided porridge was the future (and quite a cool way to spend the summer).  Bob and Tony got a shiny wee mobile porridge bar and started selling freshly made porridge right across the UK, and festival audiences loved it (and still do - look for the biggest queue at breakfast and you've found Stoats Porridge).

Not long after this, we were talking to our customers at festivals and they said it would be great if we started to make oat bars that they could have with their afternoon tea or coffee.  They wanted something filling, tasty and all-natural, packed with energy and goodness that would fuel them for the rest of the day...so we made it.  It became clear that oat dealing was easy - all we had to do was listen to our customers and make what they wanted.  We now have eight flavours of Stoats porridge oat bars, available from our online shop or buy from retailers listed here.

When we started making porridge we took great care sourcing the finest Scottish oats and we worked on bringing different blends of oats together to give porridge that had contrasting textures....smooth and fluffy yet firm and textured.  People raved about our porridge and asked where they could buy it.  So we began to put our oats into shops where people could buy what they say to be the 'best porridge in the world'.

Things have grown quickly, Bob got himself a van and started travelling around the country delivering Stoats bars into deli's, food halls and farm shops - the kind of places that understand their customers, offering quality products with exceptional customer service.  We found people wanted to avoid refined processed ingredients and they like to eat food where they recognise all of the ingredients on the labels, but most importantly our customers wanted food that tastes amazing.

Over time we've grown our range of oat-based products, thanks to everyone who we've talked to and who has suggested ideas for flavours and new products for us to work on.  We love hearing from you and will think about and try every suggestion.  OK, so sometimes we have to admit defeat - sorry but you just can't make clothing out of oats (or at least we can't).  Food is our forte.  But don't let that stop you getting in touch....We love to hear from you - whether it's something you want us to make or a product you're finding really hard to find. Or perhaps something Granny use to make that no-one sells anymore, drop us a line, we'll do our best to make it and get it in a store near you.
